FINDING THE WAY – ADOPT-A-VILLAGE
(HEY – THERE is new video below to see the progress and finishing of the first adopted village in Okidi. PLEASE check it out! Also, if you are new, there are various pictures, videos, ongoing updates, and stories on the main page! )
Finding the Way is about helping people in northern Uganda be able to go home – to break out of the impossible living situations in which they exist right now. There has been a cloud of oppression on these people for close to 25 years. It is rooted in witchcraft and evil. Those things manifested in many ways – the most blatant and destructive being a rebel war that lasted for 22 years. (see the War/Dance page for more information and background on the war and overall situation in the north.)
This “war” – or blood-letting, brought much tragedy. Villages were destroyed, women raped, people mutilated, and children abducted to be either soldiers or wives.
Death and devastation became all-too common. What people endured is truly beyond imagination. (mango grove where people were massacred – you can see the machete marks on tree)
I personally am spending time in the north and am building relationships with people. For those ready and willing to go home to resettle at their village and be able to live on their own, I will be assisting with this. People will go back in small groups and be able to live in community – helping each other and learning to live anew. There is a small team of people from the area helping, and we are all together part of this. We meet with the group in fellowship and will be assisting them to go home and rebuild, as well as training and teaching them how to live in order to sustain themselves in healthy ways.
BE INVOLVED!!!!
READ BELOW FOR WAYS YOU CAN BE PART OF WHAT’S HAPPENING…there’s something for everyone!
ADOPT-A-VILLAGE:
You can get involved with helping people in northern Uganda resettle and go home – to have knowledge, not just a hand out - to experience restoration, not just momentary relief.
You and/or your group can commit to sponsoring the resettlement of an entire village area. If you have the heart and are able, you could come and help with the process – preferably having people come again and again over time. Build relationships, do hands-on training that will be lasting, be an on-going encouragement.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND OPERATIONS EXPENSES
Help is also needed to be able to do the work, make trips, gather resources for training, cover travels costs, and cover general operating expenses. Maybe you do not have the means to adopt a specific village or a group with which to do it. Certainly, other help is still VERY MUCH needed. When someone does a basic adoption, they are not paying for many of the other things that go into the overall Finding the Way work.
Work cannot be fully done without operating expenses. So please, feel free to give any amount toward these needs.
Please contact me if you want to give or be involved. jbcrawfordftw@hotmail.com All donations will go through Grace Covenant Community Church – see the Contact Page above for more information.

Jennie – I am planning to have the grandkids roll a huge pickle jar of coins and use the money for a charity this Christmas. Are there specific things their money could buy for Finding the Way Christmas gifts – animals or soccer balls or ?, so they know or perhaps can even chose what their money is being spent on?
