reaching out

so, one of the cool things happening of late with a couple of the groups is how they are finding ways to be helping others in their village areas.  group 2 at awee has come together not only as a group, but also as a community, and have decided to help the elderly with their planting for this season.  the ones, men and women, who are stronger and able, will be digging the mounds to plant sweet potatoes, a staple food.  at group 1 in okidi, they will be helping some others construct huts this dry season.

it is truly exciting to see this happening.  as the people can see outside of themselves and their own problems and help others, they will be blessed.  they will find healing for themselves.  we are called to give.  called to serve.  called to help.  these kinds of things among the groups are a huge step for them.  they are no longer sitting around asking for what they can get; they are stepping up and discussing how they can give.  bless god for this!!  may it happen more and more.  and may god’s life be seen in them and in these acts of love and encouragement that are being given to others.

it helps to have a great team

so, i am blessed to have some great people working with finding the way full-time.  martin and samuel have been with us since the start.  they are committed and are great helps to all we do.  just thought you might want to “meet” them and here there take on the work.

In their own words…

so, i have some interviews with some of the group members from different villages.  here is one from alex.  he is orphaned, though obviously older.  he shares some of what has changed and happened as he has received help and encouragement.
